Ethan 沉默了一会儿,语气变得轻了一些:“Years later, I still dream about him. Not often. But when I do, it’s always the same.”(很多年过去了,我还是会梦见他。

“He never says anything in the dreams. He just… stands there. Sometimes by the lockers. Sometimes sitting on the bleachers.

“I guess I wanted to help people like him. But I also wanted to understand why I keep dreaming of someone I barely knew.”(我想帮助像他那样的人。

“I suppose that’s what pulled me into psychology. The questions that don’t have neat answers.”(我想,这就是我选择心理学的原因。

她微微吸了一口气,语气有些迟疑地开口:“I also have someone,” 她说,“Someone I keep dreaming about. We haven’t spoken in years. The dreams are… fragmentary. No real story. But he’s always there.”(我也有一个人……

I wasn’t planning to bring that up.”(笑)“不好意思,我其实没打算提这些的。”

Ethan 轻轻摇头:“No need to apologize. That’s how memory works sometimes.

“You know, I’ve thought a lot about why I keep dreaming of Jamie,” (我一直在想,为什么我会老是梦见 Jamie。)

“I think the mind has its own way of pointing at unfinished business.”

“Not knowing him well might be exactly the reason,” 他轻轻一笑,“There’s no closure. No narrative to wrap it up.”(也许正是因为我和他不熟,反而才一直梦见他。

“In the dream, his silence becomes everything I never asked, and everything I never said.”(在梦里,他的沉默就像是我所有没来得及问的、也没来得及说的话的总和。)

他顿了一下,望着窗外那棵枫树的枝叶轻轻晃动:“Maybe that’s why I feel responsible for someone I barely knew. Because the human brain doesn’t like blank spaces.”(也许这就是为什么我会对一个几乎不了解的人感到负疚。

“I see,” 她说,声音里带着一点被理解的微光,“That makes sense. It’s the silence that becomes too loud to ignore.”(我懂了。

她抬起眼睛,换了一个角度去讲述自己的梦:“In my case… it’s someone I used to be really close with.

“We just… drifted apart.”(我们只是渐渐疏远了。)“I keep dreaming of him—not in dramatic ways. Just… like walking beside me, or sitting in the same room, not saying anything.”(我总是梦见他——不是那种很戏剧性的梦。

她顿了顿,轻声补了一句:“And in the dream, I’m always aware that we no longer talk in real life.”(而梦里,我总是很清楚,现实中我们已经不再说话了。)

过了几秒,他才轻声开口:“That sounds like something unfinished too. But in a different way.”(听起来那也是一件没有完结的事……

Ethan 没有急着分析什么,只是点了点头,声音温和地继续说:“Dreams can be a form of emotional rehearsal. That’s what some theories suggest.”(梦境可能是一种情绪的预演,这是一些理论的说法。)

“Not just about memories, but about meaning-making. It’s like… the mind is giving you a chance to revisit something. Gently.

他望着她,语气轻得像是在问一个不需要回答的问题:“Maybe in your dream, you get to stay close to that friend… without having to decide what went wrong.”(也许在你的梦里,你可以靠近那个朋友……

“Yeah,”她轻声说,“It always feels… less complicated in the dream.”(是啊。

过了一会儿,他轻轻笑了笑:“You know… if this were a clinical session, I’d say we’re doing a lot of self-disclosure here.”(你知道吗……

“Well, I guess it’s mutual. And… I think it helps.”(嗯,算是互相的吧。

盼秋 把刚才随手堆起的访谈提纲重新摊开,抬起眼睛看着他:“Shall we move on to the next question?”(我们继续下一个问题好吗?)

Ethan点头,“Yeah,Let’s move on。。。”
